CMAT 2027 Application Process

As of September 2026, NTA has not yet published the official CMAT 2027 application notification. The official CMAT portal currently displays CMAT 2026 information, so the exact 2027 registration dates, fee, and any changed eligibility requirements should be treated as not officially confirmed yet.

Based on the recent CMAT cycle, registration is expected around October 2026, but this is an expectation, not an announced date.

Expected CMAT 2027 application steps

When NTA opens registration:

1. Go to the official CMAT website.

2. Click Registration / Apply Online for CMAT 2027.

3. Register using your own email ID and mobile number.

4. Complete the online application form:

   • Personal details

   • Educational qualifications

   • Category details

   • Address/contact information

   • Examination-city preferences

5. Upload the required documents/images, such as:

   • Recent photograph

   • Signature

   • PwD/PwBD certificate, if applicable

6. Pay the application fee through the available online payment methods.

7. Check the complete form carefully before final submission.

8. Submit the application and download/print the Confirmation Page for your records.

This follows NTA's established CMAT application procedure; the 2026 notification also specified that applications must be submitted online and that only one application should be submitted per candidate.

Eligibility

The exact CMAT 2027 eligibility criteria will be confirmed in NTA's 2027 Information Bulletin. In the recent CMAT cycle, the exam was intended for candidates seeking admission to management programmes, with CMAT scores accepted by AICTE-approved institutions and participating university/college departments.

Important: CMAT application ≠ MBA college application

After taking CMAT and receiving your score, you generally need to apply separately to the management institutes you want to join. NTA's CMAT portal explicitly states that candidates must apply separately to desired participating institutions; each institution determines its own cut-off and subsequent selection process, which may include GD/PI.

CMAT Syllabus 2026

Syllabus for CMAT 2026 is divided into five sections: Language Comprehension; Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation; Logical Reasoning; General Awareness and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. A brief overview is given below.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation: Syllabus for this section includes Arithmetic (Ratio, Time & Work, Averages, Percentages, Profit & Loss), Algebra, Geometry, Probability, Number Properties, and Data Interpretation through tables, pie charts, bar diagrams, and graphs.
Language Comprehension: Syllabus for this section includes grammar, tenses, vocabulary, sentence correction, jumbled paragraphs, and reading comprehension passages focused on inference, central idea, idioms, and expression.
Logical Reasoning: Syllabus for this section includes questions on arrangements (linear, circular, sequencing), puzzles, coding-decoding, statement-conclusion, Venn diagrams, and visual reasoning.
General Awareness: Syllabus for this section includes Static GK, Current Affairs, and Business & Economics awareness such as fiscal/monetary policies, international organizations, key personalities, and national events.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Syllabus for this section includes government schemes, start-up concepts, innovation management, key entrepreneurs, terminology (bootstrapping, break-even point), and recent developments in business and policy.

1. CMAT 2027 Preparation Tips

If you are targeting CMAT 2027, start with a structured plan rather than trying to study everything at once. The latest CMAT pattern has 5 sections, 100 questions and 400 marks, with 20 questions in each section.

2. Follow a 4-stage preparation strategy

Stage 1 — Build fundamentals

Spend the first few weeks strengthening concepts, particularly in Quantitative Techniques and Logical Reasoning. Don't focus heavily on speed until your basic concepts are comfortable.

Stage 2 — Practice topic-wise

After learning a concept, immediately solve questions based on it. Maintain a notebook or digital record of:

  • Questions that took too long

  • Important formulas

  • Recurring question patterns

Stage 3 — Start timed practice

Gradually introduce sectional tests. Your objective should be to improve accuracy + speed, rather than simply increasing the number of questions attempted.

Stage 4 — Full-length mocks

Once you have covered most of the syllabus, take regular CMAT-style mock tests. After every mock, spend substantial time analysing it.

Ask yourself:

• • Which questions did I get wrong?

  • Which questions consumed too much time?

  • Which topics are repeatedly causing mistakes?

  • Were my errors conceptual, calculation-based or due to rushing?

  • Which questions should I have skipped?

3. Give extra attention to Quant and LR

For many students, these sections require the most sustained practice.

For Quant, first become comfortable with arithmetic:

  • Averages

  • Profit & loss

  • Simple/compound interest

  • Time, speed & distance

  • Time & work

  • Mixtures

  • Number system

Then move to algebra, geometry and DI.

For Logical Reasoning, practise different types of puzzles and arrangements regularly rather than repeatedly solving only one type.

4. Don't ignore General Awareness

GA can be difficult to prepare through last-minute studying alone.

A practical approach is to spend 15–20 minutes a day following important current affairs and periodically revise them.

Keep separate notes for:

  • Government schemes

  • Awards

  • Sports

  • Books & authors

  • Important appointments

  • National/international events

  • Companies and business developments

  • Static GK

5. Prepare Innovation & Entrepreneurship separately

Don't assume this section is simply another General Awareness section. Learn the terminology and concepts associated with:

  • Startups

  • Innovation

  • Business models

  • Venture capital

  • Angel investment

  • Incubators/accelerators

  • Intellectual property

  • Government entrepreneurship initiatives

  • Basic business and management concepts

6. Suggested daily schedule

If you can study around 3 hours a day, a workable schedule is:

• • 60 minutes: Quantitative Techniques & DI

  • 45 minutes: Logical Reasoning

  • 30 minutes: Language Comprehension

  • 25 minutes: General Awareness

  • 20 minutes: Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Reserve additional time on weekends for a sectional test or mock and, importantly, mock analysis.

7. A simple 6-month plan

Months 1–2:
Build fundamentals + cover the basic syllabus.

Months 3–4:
Topic-wise practice + sectional tests + start regular current-affairs revision.

Month 5:
Increase timed practice and take approximately 1–2 full mocks per week.

Month 6:
Focus on mocks, revision, weak areas and exam strategy. Avoid constantly adding new study material.

8. The biggest mistake to avoid

Don't measure preparation by the number of hours you sit with books.

A better measure is:

Concepts learned → Questions solved → Mistakes analysed → Timed tests → Improvement

A student who carefully analyses 10 mocks can gain considerably more from them than someone who takes 30 mocks without reviewing mistakes.

9. Recommended strategy for CMAT 2027

Since the CMAT 2027 official notification and final exam schedule have not yet been released, use the latest official CMAT pattern as your starting point and verify the 2027 Information Bulletin once NTA publishes it.

CMAT 2027 Latest Update

As of 27 September 2026, the most important confirmed update is that NTA has announced the CMAT 2027 exam date: 7 February 2027.

Current status

NTA's CMAT website currently continues to show CMAT 2026 notices and scorecard information; a CMAT 2027 application notice has not yet appeared there.

When will CMAT 2027 registration start?

The official registration date has not been announced yet.

Current reports expect registration to begin around mid-October 2026, with some estimates placing it in the second or third week of October. These are estimates, not confirmed NTA dates.
